Medications (diarrhoea)

Loperamide (Imodium)

Diarrhoea Medication. Each capsule contains 2 mg Loperamide hydrochloride. Dosage: Adults and children over 12: Two capsules (4mg) initially, followed by one capsule after each loose stool. Usual dose is 3-4 capsules (6-8mg) a day. Total dose should not exceed 6 capsules (12mg).

Loperamide Syrup (Imodium Syrup)

Diarrhoea Medication. Imodium 1mg/5ml oral solution. Adults: four 5ml doses initially, followed by two 5ml doses after each loose stool. Total daily should not exceed sixteen 5ml doses. Children- following doses must not be exceeded. Over 8 years old: two 5ml doses four times with the duration to 5 days. Children 4-8 years: One 5ml dose three or four times daily with the duration to 3 days.
