Description

Interleukin-12/23 antagonist (anti-interleukin)

Indications

Moderate-to-severely active CD or UC in adults

Contraindications

Avoid in active infection, during pregnancy and breastfeeding (evaluate for tuberculosis before treatment); caution in older patients, malignancy or predisposition to infection | Potential side effects: Joint pain; weakness; back pain; muscle pain; diarrhoea; dizziness; headache; increased risk of infection; nausea; neck and throat pain; skin reactions; vomiting

Preparations Available

Intravenous infusion (induction up to week 8); subcutaneous injection (beyond week 8)

Quantity

Dose: 260–520mg during induction (depending on body weight); 90mg after 8 weeks and then every 8–12 weeks
